CLOUDWALKER, UNICORNS AND PEGASUS

As we are well into the Year of the Horse, this week we pay homage to that noblest of fantasy creatures, our winged unicorn, Cloudwalker.
Part unicorn, part Pegasus, this wonderful creature captures the imagination and brings to mind our initial discovery of his genuine ancestor, the horse.

Think back, as a child, which did you, discover first, the horse, the unicorn or the flying horse?
Some of you may recall a toy horse that started a childhood collection, perhaps a miniature pony statue or a stuffed unicorn with a furry body and a golden horn. Some of you may have taking riding lessons and grown a passion for the noble horse, before you discovered the unicorn and the flying horse.
Others may recall the Greek myth of Pegasus, Bellerophon’s flying horse upon which he rode and defeated the Chimera.

Still others may remember the tapestry depicting the story of virgin and the unicorn. 


Or the unicorn related fantasy  movie, Legend from whence Cloudwalker was inspired.

Or even the original 1981 film, Clash ofthe Titans, where Perseus and Pegasus flew majestically over the sea in a fierce battle with the Kraken. In Cloudwalker, we envision all of these magnificent creatures.

When designing our Cloudwalker pieces, we embrace the folklore, myths and many forms given this ethereal animal and try to instill each design with the wonder and love we all felt when we first gazed upon this noble creature.

    The Cloudwalker Dream Stone is one of my favorites ~ as a small child he whisked me off to many magical places!. My very first piece of Kirks Folly was the marvelous Cloudwalker cuff bracelet which I cherish to this day :-)

    Helen: Thanks for creating all of your lovely fantasy pieces. During school the edge of my papers were filled with doodles, and unicorns and Pegasus horses were some of my favs to draw.     I am truly in love with unicorns...ever since I was a little girl, which is a long time ago, I have been drawn to the unicorn. It brings comfort to me to see this beautiful creature and imagine touching the softness of its face with my hand ... climbing up and soaring to new heights would be the ultimate experience. I love the pictures you have shared. I love cloud walker. Thank you for bringing much happiness....(*_*) Whitedove

    When I was a little girl my father gave me a unicorn calendar with many wonderful fantasy artists work. I was hooked. It fueled an addiction to fantasy. Many years later, Cloudwalker was one of my first KF purchases.

    I have been Collecting ( along with My Mom at My Side) Kirks Folly for over 14 years.. I can't tell the actual amount or it would give my Age away ;) I am a Poet working on a Manuscript and I continually use the Inspiration of Kirk's Folly to Shape Shift into a Gorgeous Gypsy Bell, Sometimes a Sultry Fae, but Always I am hopping a ride on a Dragonflies Glistening Wings, or Borrowing a Unicorn for a Short Trip to Other Dimensions! When You are in the Land of Kirk's Folly.. there's Always Friendly and Oh So Adoreable Transportion if You don't want to Use your own Wings!
